Former President of the Jury of The Nobel Prize in Literature Visits CCTSS

On 17 November 2017, Mathias Lafolie, the Cultural Counsellor of the Embassy of Sweden to China, Kjell Espmark, the renowned poet, novelist, literary historian and former president of the Jury of The Nobel Prize in Literature, and Monica Lauritzen, the acclaimed Swedish author and biographer, visited the Chinese Culture Translation and Studies Support Network (hereinafter referred to as CCTSS) and engaged in an in-depth discussion with Prof. Xu Baofeng, the executive director of CCTSS.

  Prof.r Xu Baofeng, extended a warm welcome to the three guests of honour and expressed his hope that they would strengthen their collaborative efforts where cultural dialogues based on foreign and Chinese authors and their works are concerned.

  Kjell Espmark visited CCTSS, the dynamic database of sinologists and translators from China and abroad. He spoke highly of CCTSS and showed a great interest in Guidelines to Contemporary Chinese Works and Writers, compiled by CCTSS. Espmark expressed his sincere gratitude to CCTSS for their warm invitation and said that he greatly appreciated Chinese authors, as their works often demonstrate a uniquely Eastern wisdom and are rich in cultural significance. He believes that, in the future, there will be many more outstanding works of Chinese literature that will be introduced to the world through CCTSS' platform.

  Kjell Espmark and his wife, as well as the Cultural Counsellor, Mathias Lafolie, expressed that they would enthusiastically assist Chinese authors in promoting their works abroad as a means of contributing to the formation of a cultural bond between Sweden and China.

  Chinese Culture Translation and Studies Support Network (CCTSS) is a platform that facilitates the collaborative translation of cultural works both from and into Chinese. It was jointly initiated by the Bureau of External Relations, Ministry of Culture with the Beijing Language and Culture University. Thus far, it has developed into a database of sinologists and translators from China and abroad, including more than 3000 experts, 1000 institutions and 4000 works covering over 80 nations.
